The Edmonton Convention Centre is pleased to announce Marketing and Communications Specialist Mevisha Maistry has been named to the International Association of Venue Managers (IAVM) 30|Under|30 class of 2018. This prestigious list includes top venue professionals from across the globe employed in arenas, stadiums, convention centres and performing arts theatres.
Mevisha is one of only two Canadians named to the class of 2018. A graduate of the University of Alberta and the Public Relations program at MacEwan University, her diverse experience includes amateur sport, local and international festivals, and convention centres. This award formally recognizes her as an emerging leader in the venue management sector.
“Mevisha is a bright and talented employee with tremendous leadership qualities,” says Richard Wong, General Manager, Edmonton Convention Centre. “I’m proud to have her represent Edmonton and the Edmonton Convention Centre, and congratulate her on this outstanding achievement.”
“There were many extremely qualified and worthy applicants this year,” stated Kathryn Eades, IAVM Foundation Director of Development. “Tough choices were made by the Foundation’s large group of judges, which included members from the Foundation Board of Trustees and numerous certified venue professionals. Those chosen exemplify the characteristics of leadership and developing talent necessary to the future of our industry.”
Mevisha becomes the third Edmontonian to be recognized as a recipient of the IAVM 30|Under|30 program, joining the Edmonton Convention Centre’s Imran Gill (2016) and Rogers Place employee Zach Cornwall (2017).
