The Edmonton Convention Centre is seeking part-time (Labourer) Event Services Crew to join the team for midnight and overnight shifts! The Event Services Labour Team is responsible for setting up and dismantling the event spaces and taking on the labour tasks required to run successful events. Job Details

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Physical setup and take down of rooms according to work orders, including arranging tables, chairs, bleachers, and staging.
  • Hanging and dismantling pipe & draping as required using the proper tools and technique
  • Responsibly manage recyclable materials and waste disposal
  • Operating and maintaining equipment like forklifts, manlifts, and power jacks with appropriate certification
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of storage areas and ensuring that back corridors are kept tidy, equipment is stored correctly, and fire exits are always clear
  • Removing any unnecessary equipment that obstructs access to Halls, Salons & Loading Docks
  • Understanding and complying with Explore Edmonton’s Health and Safety policy, ECC’s Health & Safety Program and OH&S regulations

The successful candidate will have:

  • Minimum High School Education
  • Availability for Monday to Sunday overnight/midnight (12:00 am to 8:30 am) shifts
  • Must have flexibility to work afternoon and midnight shifts
  • Experience in labour-type work with a focus on hotel, tradeshows or Convention Centre related
  • The ability to handle stressful situations appropriately in a fast-paced environment and work independently when required
  • The ability to carry 50 pounds. Must be able to lift and assemble chairs and tables, and locate staging and bleachers. Able to walk, bend and lift for extended hours
  • Strong work ethic and ability to work with deadlines as per our Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)
