Job Details

The Edmonton Convention Centre is looking for Custodians to join the team! Reporting to the Manager, Building Services, the Custodian is responsible for the day-to-day custodial maintenance of the venue by maintaining building appearance and acceptable cleaning standards. This includes being responsible for maintaining a standard of excellence and demonstrating how to work efficiently without sacrificing quality. The Custodian will ensure that the bounds of the Edmonton Convention Centre Policies and Procedures, Building Services Standard Operating Procedures, and Occupational Health and Safety standards are being followed on shift.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Daily cleaning of public space.
  • Event cleaning for events such as conferences, concerts, and trade shows.
  • Operation of floor machinery.
  • Washroom cleaning, sweeping, moping, washing walls, etc.
  • Shampooing/extraction cleaning of carpet & upholstery
  • Striping and waxing of floors
  • Maintaining restrooms supplies.
  • Ensuring back corridors are neat and clean keeping all fire exits clear of all material.
  • Maintaining cleanliness of garbage room and storage areas
  • Ensuring proper operation of assigned equipment to ensure safety and effective operation and minimize repairs.
  • Working in a cooperative manor with other members of the custodial team as well as other departments.

The successful candidate will have:

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of event or venue custodial experience
  • Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety considered an asset
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to see cleaning needs and executing with minimal guidance
  • Ability to work varied shift time which includes but limited to mornings, afternoons, and midnight shifts. Fast paced environment.
  • Standing and walking for long periods of time. Able to lift at least 50Lbs.
