Grierson Hill Traffic Restrictions

The City of Edmonton is currently building a world-class funicular next to the Edmonton Convention Centre that will provide mechanized access to North America’s largest urban parkland. Due to the large scale of this project, there will be specific days and times (see below) that the city restricts access to Grierson Hill Road, the main access point to our loading dock, and the Louise McKinney parking lot.

All general traffic will be blocked northbound and southbound on Grierson Hill. Event attendees and exhibitors can still access the Louise McKinney parking lot or the Edmonton Convention Centre loading dock by informing the traffic guard at 95a street and Grierson Hill.

Pedestrian and cyclist access to north side trails will be limited between the Low Level Bridge and Dawson Bridge. Closure signs will be in place to let trail users know about the closures. Users are advised to go through downtown or use south side river valley trails to get around the closure. Pedestrians may take ETS downtown from stop #1190 north of the Low Level Bridge. Full detour maps are available here.

Please visit our parking page for nearby lots or contact us if you have any questions. Dates and times are subject to change.
